Both the 2022 Dodge Charger and 2022 Ford Mustang are incredibly popular vehicles. While Mopar fans lean toward the Charger and Ford die-hards prefer the Mustang, these two cars share plenty of similarities. At the same time, they also have plenty of differences to set them apart. If you can’t decide whether to buy a Mustang or Charger, the information below can help. For more information, feel free to contact us anytime or visit us near Apex.
There are a few different categories to consider in order to properly compare the Charger and Mustang. For some Carrboro drivers, power and performance is everything; for others, cost of ownership and reliability are more important. Determine whether the Mustang or Charger is right for you, below.
All-in-all, the Mustang is the more powerful of the two models. It boasts 310 horsepower at the base level compared to the Charger’s 292. Keep in mind, though, that if you want all 310 horses, you’ll need to use 93 octane premium fuel. The Charger provides all 292 horsepower on traditional unleaded 87 octane fuel.
The Mustang is a two-door model limited to four passengers, while the Charger offers four doors and seating for five, so the Charger fits into the sedan category and is generally better for families. You’ll get 104 cubic feet of space in the Charger compared to only 79.2 cubic feet of space in the Mustang. The Dodge Charger is the only four-door muscle car of its kind!
The Mustang only offers single-zone climate control compared to the Charger’s dual-zone climate control. You have four-way manual driver’s seat control in the Mustang, but the Charger offers an eight-way power driver’s seat. As for the infotainment screen, the Charger’s 7-inch screen dwarfs the Mustang’s 4.2-inch screen.
Both the Mustang and Charger feature ABS brakes, driver and passenger airbags, and front side airbags. However, only the Charger offers curtain airbags standard on every trim option. Furthermore, the Charger has four and five star ratings for all NHTSA Crash Test results.
The better option for your needs around Cary depends on your preferences. If you have a family of four or five, the Mustang’s backseat can get a bit cramped, and the two-door layout can quickly become frustrating. This makes the four-door Charger a better option for families.
Comparing the Dodge Charger vs. Ford Mustang is like comparing apples to oranges. They are both designed to be sporty, but the Charger’s sedan style is a far cry from the Mustang’s coupe body style. Both vehicles offer a smooth ride and several peppy engine options, however, we believe the Charger provides more. Come see this impressive vehicle for yourself at Hendrick Dodge Cary.
