The Dodge Ram 1500 is a strong-but-light duty type truck. From the family of Dodge, Ram started its bold-retro big-rig designed high-style-trucks in 1994. The completely revamped 2007 Ram 1500 still holds the "big rig" style as before. This in itself makes the previous generation Ram truck enthusiasts to fawn over it.

In the latest styling, Ram 1500 has greater towing capacities that reach up to 13,650 pounds. It has a powerful Hemi 5.7-liter V8 engine with 345 hp and increased safety.

Ram is available in three body styles, which are: Regular Cab, four-door Quad Cab, and Mega Cab. The Ram 1500 can easily compete as one of the best-looking trucks in the market. Its bold and handsome styling looks even more in its latest embodiment.

In five trim levels ST, SLT, Sport, Laramie, and TRX4, Ram 1500 presents three strong output engines 3.7L overhead-cam V6, 4.7L V8, and 5.7L Hemi V8. The available transmissions for these trims are 6-speed manual transmission and 5-speed automatic transmission. The 6-speed manual transmission comes standard with the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 and a 4-speed automatic is optional with the 3.7L V6. The 5-speed automatic comes standard with the 5.7L V8 and optional with the 4.7L V8. All these Ram 1500 models are available as either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.

A 3.7L V6 Ram 1500 engine has 215-horsepower, but the workhorse engine is a 4.7L V8 that is powered with a 235 hp and 300 pound-feet of torque. For additional power, there's a 5.7L V8 which makes 345 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. This comes optional with most Ram 1500s and is standard on Mega Cabs and all trucks in the Laramie trim. The available FFV capability (flexible-fuel vehicle), allows the option of running on E-85 ethanol or standard gasoline. It has a fuel economy of 14-15 mpg in the city and 18-19 mpg on highways.

The 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 is dynamic and easy to drive. Even the Ram trademark big horse-collar grille adds further to its classiness.

The TRX4 Off-Road model comes with unique 17-inch aluminum wheels, P265 all-terrain tires, limited-slip differential, skid plates for the transfer case and front suspension, special red-painted shock absorbers, body-color grille surround, tow hooks, and fog lamps. Otherwise, TRX4 is trimmed like an SLT. TRX4 comes with 4WD only, but there is also a TRX package for 2WD models. Options exclusive to TRX4 include LT275 light-truck tires.

The ST has an air-conditioner. The SLT comes with alloy wheels, cruise control, cloth seating, keyless entry, and full power accessories. The luxurious Laramie is upgraded with dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seating, a power driver seat, a six-CD changer with MP3 capability, and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls.

With the Hemi engine and a five-speed automatic transmission the Ram 1500 Sport gets a new performance and look. It consists of unique cloth-faced bucket seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, body-color grille and bumper fascia, fog lamps, and 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels.

Depending on the trim of your choice, available options include a navigation system, a rear-seat DVD-based entertainment system, upgraded audio, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless start, a Sport package, and a TRX4 off-road package.

The fuel economy of Ram 1500 (14 mpg) if you mainly drive in cities may be heavy on the pockets. Due to its light tow weight and an efficient 4.7-liter V8 engine it is here to serve its customers every need. The 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 is bouncy and easy to drive.

The Ram 1500 carries an Independent front suspension and a Live Axle rear suspension helping you to glide on highways. The new model is now quieter, steers better, and rides more comfortably than the old models, but the engine is a bit noisy

The 2007 model brings with it refinements that emphasize on safety. The Ram 1500 is awarded the highest rating of a five-star from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for its frontal crash testing. Three-point shoulder belts are provided at all locations, including the rear center seat.

The optional safety features includes side-curtain airbags designed to provide head protection in a side impact and an electronic stability program (ESP).
